Cushman & Wakefield Asset Services Recognized for Marketing Excellence

Cushman & Wakefield Asset Services won Gold & Silver at the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Maple Leaf Awards for marketing and design excellence.

The ICSC Maple Leaf Awards program is designed to honour the industry’s brightest and best, as well as recognize those who find innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends.

Cushman & Wakefield shopping centres were recognized with a Gold Maple Leaf for their joint effort on a national sustainability campaign – ACT – Always Consider Tomorrow. The program’s initiatives included a customized manual for waste reduction, environmental sustainability activities and unique in-centre events that successfully collected more than 150,000 lbs of e-waste, clothing, and construction and renovation waste from communities across the Canada.

Halifax Shopping Centre earned a Maple Leaf Gold for their two-year $70 million renovation project including the addition of 45,000 square feet of new retail space – making room for fashion destination retailers like Zara, Browns, and H&M, and the creation of the Terrace: a stylish and enhanced dining environment.

Calgary’s “The Core Shopping Centre” was recognized with a Gold Maple Leaf for their Find Christmas Downtown campaign featuring a tree scavenger hunt and a charitable tree-decorating event that provided 106 Christmas trees to families in need. The campaign generated over 725,000 social media impressions resulting in the #FindChristmasDowntown hashtag trending number one in Canada: more then the CFL awards!

Erin Mills Town Centre received a Gold Maple Leaf for their Join The Build March Break Minecraft Event; a promotion that followed the centres redevelopment and invited participants to create the New Erin Mills within a Minecraft landscape during March Break. The event space included a lounge, gaming area, computers, a craft station and selfie area. Over 2,400 children participated boosting adjacent retailer sales 18%, centres sales by 26% and overall March sales by 15%.

Silver Maple Leaf awards went to Landsdowne Place for their cause-related Greener Way To Clean Your Tray initiative; ; Halifax Shopping Centre’s Too Pretty To Be A Food Court grand opening; and St. Vital Centre’s multi-channel Spark campaign.
